You need to install both the TSM Backup Archive Client (the software that backs up Windows) as well as the TDP client. TDP uses API's provided by the TSM BA client. Also, for Domino 8.5, you may also need a newer version of both clients:
TSM and TDP are also a bit strange (IMO) because the scheduling and control of backups require setup on both the client and server end. Take a look in the TSM/domino folder at the ".smp" files. These are sample command files. In the end, you will customize them and rename them with a .cmd extension. The TSM server then calls for these files when it runs a backup.
TSM works really well once it's setup, however, getting it to that point can be...challenging. There are certain concepts that aren't the same if you are used to locally-attached tape storage (ARCserve, etc.). Your best ally will likely be a knowledgeable TSM Administrator...
